As you lie in bed wide awake
dark invades each corner
Burrowing deep in the coverlet
body begins to shake
To God prayers asking, why Lord why?
Why is she gone and why did she go?
” My child” are the cries
A beginning and a legacy lost
Asking why as eyes overflow with tears
Cries no one hears, no one sees the fears
Feeling His arms about her, she cries
Thinking please just let me die…
Hearing the sweet voices of the saints
Their haunting song, a heavenly choir
Letting you know it is not God’s plan
for you to go
He will hold you, comfort you
Saying ‘Her job done here, my child’
‘Ye shall meet again!’
